One Special lady who touched all who knew her. Beloved wife of Vernon Burke (1920-1977) beloved mother of Daniel Burke (1942-1978). Pauline was the Daughter of Lester Heidt(1894-1969), And Edna Heidt Blakemore (1896-1989). Sister of Marian Heidt Seymour(1915-2001), Florence Heidt (1919-1921), and Carrol Heidt (1924-2008). Pauline was the third daughter born to Lester and Edna Heidt on June 13, 1922. She was six and one half years younger than her older sister Marian. Her older sister Florence died a year before Pauline's birth. Younger brother Carrol followed less than two years later. Pauline was a beautiful baby, and became a beautiful woman. In 1940, she graduated Turlock High School, where she was one of the most popular girls. just a few months after her High School Graduation, she married Vernon Burke in Carson City, Nevada, on September 4, 1940. Vernon did not want children but Pauline became pregnant in late 1941. On July 17, 1942, Pauline gave birth to Daniel Oliver Burke. He became the apple of his mother's eye. Vernon, Pauline, and Dan lived near lake Don Pedro. Vernon worked at the damn for Turlock Irrigation District. Pauline enjoyed her life as a wife and mother. Her nephews Gary and Mike visited often. Gary remembered a time Vernon, Dan, and himself caught frogs. Pauline was going to cook the frog legs for dinner. He remembers hearing a scream from the kitchen and Pauline running out holding a spatuala. Pauline neglacted to take the nerve out of the frog legs so they bounced out of the pan. Pauline also made the boys wash their hair until it squeaked. Pauline was more of a home body. Vernon would go on trips to see family and Pauline always stayed home. Later in life Vernon and Pauline moved to Turlock, and bought a house down the street from Pauline's mother Edna. Vernon suffered from severe arthritis and Pauline was a consumate care-giver. Dan, went to college at U.C. Berkley and then the Marines. He served in Vietnam Dan became adicted to drugs. Dan possibly married and may have had a son. Vernon died in 1977. She lost her Vernon in 1977, after years of caring for him, and Her Dan took his life a later a year later, he was only 37. She took care of her mother, Edna until her death in 1989. Then Pauline was left alone, all she had was her sister Marian, her brother Carrol, and her nieces and nephews. Pauline was always a talker. She could talk faster than the wind blew. Her brother Carrol one time commented, "I love Pauline, she just talks too damn much." Pauline would always have a hug and a word of encouragement, but once her Family died she rarely left the house. She always had an excuse, "Oh my hair's not right, I have nothing to wear, I need lose some weight." Life turned its back on Pauline, but she always had a smile to give. After her sister died in August 2001, Pauline showed signs of dementia, in March 2002 she had to give up the home she shared with Vernon and move into an assisted living facility, Only leaving for her eightieth birthday party, and when she broke her hip in July of that year. She was so happy that last year of her life she had people to talk to. She always bragged about how good she looked for eighty, who knew she would not make it to eighty-one. On Sunday January 5, 2003 just months after her 80th Birthday, Pauline suffered a massive stroke. At approximately 4:30pm she was re-united with her son and husband after 25 years apart. Pauline was a warm loving person. Everyone's favorite aunt. Aunt Pauline always said at the end of a visit with her, "Now don't you forget me." Well Aunt Pauline I can assure you no one will ever forget you. Auntie Peen always gave love, now this tribute gives her a fitting tribute, for a lady the world may have forgotten.
