Lois Winters was the daughter of Frank and Lidia Winters of W. Potomac Street, Williamsport. She was a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church. She belonged to the Latin, French, English and Glee clubs at Williamsport High School. She often entertained fellow club members in her home. She was quite athletic and played on the field ball team and was shortstop on the hitball team that had won the 1933 county championship at the annual track and field meet. She often acted in school plays. She had parts in "The Toyshop", "The Trip" and "The Christmas Ghost" and was chosen to play Aunt March in the senior class play "Little Women" which was to have been held on May 24, 1935.

Lois was one of fourteen Williamsport High School students killed when the school bus they were returning from a field trip in collided with an express train at Rockville, Maryland on the night of April 11, 1935. After the tragedy, the inhabitants of Williamsport gathered donations to build a public library in memory of the students. It still stands and is used to this day.

Lois Winters was laid to rest in Riverview Cemetery on April 15, 1935.
