WWII Vet. US Coast Guard. Served aboard the U.S. destroyer escort Menges. Menges was hit by a torpedo from a German sub. The stern was lost but she was able to limp to safe haven. Following the war Curtis earned his degree in accounting. He had four children Paula Anne, Kathleen June, Patrick Curtiss and William Matthew. Curtis and his wife Carol Sue (nee Curtiss) divorced and the minor children were adopted by her second husband Donald Richard Nelson.
