Cory graduated from Deland High School, Class of 2010 where he played football, was on the track and field team, and was a member of the ROTC program for all four years. He attended U.S. Army Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and AIT training at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was a 25Q Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator Maintainer stationed at Fort Drum, NY with the 10th Mountain Division, Charlie Company, 3rd Brigade Special Troop Battalion. He recently returned from a 15-month tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan FOB Hawz-E-Mudad in March 2012. Cory enjoyed boating, hunting, four wheeling, snowboarding, fishing, and driving his Mustang. He enjoyed life to its fullest and loved his family and friends dearly and would do anything for them. His smile was contagious and lit up any room he entered. He gave the best hugs and gave them freely. Regardless of knowing a person five minutes or five years he loved them equally. Cory will be deeply missed by many but forever in our hearts. Cory was predeceased by his grandmother, Phyllis Ann Flanders in 2002 and great-grandfather, Bolden Eiland, Jr., in 1988. He is survived by his father and stepmother; his mother; two sisters and four brothers; niece and nephew, paternal and maternal grandparents; Godparents; aunts, uncles, cousins and many other family members and friends.
