Rita was the daughter of Leebert Kindred & Geneva McClellan. Sister of Jean, Willene & LeRoy. She married her husband Ted on February 1, 1964. They had two children - Tim & Christa. She passed away suddenly of a heart attack at the young age of 49.

The day I truly understood true love...

I grew up taking for granted that I lived in a happy home. My parents stayed married, never fought in front of my brother or me. It was probably as close to Leave It To Beaver as possible. Most of my friends came from divorced homes, so my home was a haven for them. Throughout the years, various friends came to live with us. My mother always took care of all us. She was a stay-at-home mom so we always had three home cooked meals per day, a clean home, clean clothes and lots of love. As a teenager, we kids would be "cruisin" town and pass my parents sitting right next to each other as if they were dating teenagers. Of course all my friends thought it was wonderful and at the time I was mortified. (I'm ashamed to say that now!) On September 10, 1993, my mother had a heart attack at 49 years old. While she was intensive care, I seen my father lean over her bed with her in his arms, crying and begging the doctors to save her. (I had never seen my father cry) My dad told them that if they could save her, he would give them all their earthly possessions and just to heal her and they would walk away from the hospital together and start over picking up aluminum cans if necessary. However, God had other plans. But that day, I learned the lesson of true love. I'm crying now as I always do when I re-tell this story. Over 1000 people came to her funeral. A lot of these were their "kids" that they helped raise throughout the years.

A wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister & friend.
