Obituary, RUSSELLVILLE TIMES: Died Aged 98, Mrs. BERRY, familiarly known as "Grandma BERRY," died at the home of her grandson, R. M. BERRY, in Russellville, Sunday night. Mrs. BERRY lacked till March 17, next, of being 98 years old, and was well and in the enjoyment of good health almost up to the very moment, when as expressed, "she quit living." She had no ailment, was afflicted with no disease, but the machinery of life, worn out by time, stopped, and the soul of this good mother, whose eyes for almost a century, had looked out over the earth, passed over the river to where there is no reckoning of years, nor the noting of the flight besides a list of relatives in this and Lawrence Counties. On March 17th, 1898, her grandson, Mr. BERRY, tendered her a birthday dinner and which was a family reunion; an account of which appears in the next issue of The Times. The remains were carried to Mt.Pleasant Church, near Newburg, and there laid to rest. Thomas Russell BERRY, Great-Grandson, left this story: "Grandma was found sitting in her rocking-chair before thefireplace, her head bowed, her unlighted pipe in her lap, in her final sleep."
