Dr. Smith was a native of Atlanta where he practiced pediatrics for many years after graduating from Morehouse College and Meharry Medical College.
Funeral services for Dr. Otis Wesley Smith of College Park, GA. will be held Monday, February 12, 2007 at 12 Noon at the Martin Luther King Chapel, 830 Westview Dr., SW, Morehouse Campus.
Recognized as Georgia's first certified black pediatrician, he funded Morehouse scholarships. With a group of civil rights activists and other medical professionals, he fought to desegregate hospitals in Atlanta and across the country.
