Ernst was the first casualty of World War II from DuPage County, Illinois. He is missed everyday by our family.

My Cousin Ernst D. Ellerbruch was the son of Henry Ellerbruch and his wife Emma, brother of Otto. He was born in Elmhurst, Illinois. His school years were spent at St Paul Evangelical Lutheran School located in Addison, Illinois.

On June 23, 1941 he was inducted into military service under the Selective Service Act. He received his military
training at the following camps: Camp Roberts, Fort Lewis, Fort Ord, and Camp Pickett. He was sent overseas for military duty in October of 1942. He was killed in action on the 7th of August in the North Africa area.

He left behind his fiance Miss Emmie Schmale.

Ernst, I recently went thru our box of family pictures and when I located your baby picture, how I wished I had a child of yours to share it with. Thank you for giving your life for our country.

Thank you Julie for sponsoring his Memorial, I really
appreciate the kindness.....

World War II, also known as the Second World War, was a global war that lasted from September 1, 1939 through September 2, 1945, though related conflicts began earlier.
