Mary Schehrer was a daughter of John and Lillie Patty of Galena, Kansas. She married Harry Schehrer at Joplin, Mo. in 1939 and they lived the rest of their lives at Miami, Ok. She went by the nickname "Pat" after her marriage to Harry Schehrer and was best known by that name by her friends. She was a homemaker for most of her later years, but worked for the "Miami News Record" for several years while I was going to school. She was an avid reader and also wrote a few short stories for magazines back in the 1960s. She belonged to a writer's club with several of her friends who also were writers, including Velma Nieberding, Frances Baker, Iva Simpson, and others. She was always ready to go places and do interesting things when I came down to Miami to see her. She was in relatively good health until shortly before her death at age 83.
