Soldiers who died in Vietnam serving in the 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division. In 1968-1969, 4 Distinguished Service Crosses, 42 Silver Stars, 141 Bronze Stars w/V device. Those that died in the same combat action are linked together where possible. In its 4 years in Vietnam, the battalion personnel were awarded 9 Distinguished Service Crosses, 218 Silver Stars, 864 Bronze Stars and 1,685 Purple Hearts. The overall totals are from "In the Land of Nine Dragons" copyright 2010. The 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry was one of the most decorated battalions in the Vietnam War. The Battalion was a part of the 3rd Brigade of the 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam. It's sister Battalions were the 3rd Battalion and 5th Battalion (Mechanized). The 9th Infantry Division was the only US Army Division whose area of operation was the Mekong Delta.
