The Unwinding Road

Relatives on FindAGrave. Grandfather McCormick bought some land in the country to take his family to go camping. He thought of the place as his "unwinding road." Later my dad purchased the land from him and I grew up there. The following is from a poem my mother wrote for my grandfather's memorial service: "Not so far away there is a place, A quiet place where granddad dreamed, A place where hundreds of varieties of trees and flowers grow... I will always be reminded while I am traveling reverently on the unwinding road." Just as my mother's love of flowers has put her mark on the land bought by my grandfather long ago we, all of us, are connected on the road of eternity.
