To maternal grandma Dorothy (daughter of Orval Robert Click and Jessie Bell (Martin) Click -- George's older sister), this was "Uncle" George's family. I only met Uncle George once: on the day we stopped in Sylvia, Kansas to see him right after grandpa's burial in Partridge, Kansas (in June of 1967 when I was 7.5 years old). While it was a sad day for grandma, my mother, and me; I think it relaxed grandma to see her uncle and take her mind off events of the day. I don't remember much except that it was a very lively, busy household full of family members and children...

My goal is to hook up all the family in honor of all the stories my grandma told me about her kinfolk throughout her life. To her family was important whether they were close kin or distant...

Finally, note that the information necessary to help me track down this family's resting places was provided by Edith. Edith's husband, George, was a grandson and namesake of Uncle George. He was also the family genealogist for many years. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2004. Edith has kept all his work and graciously shared his work with me. Without that information, this virtual cemetery wouldn't exist. Thank you for everything, Edith!

PS: Of John Martin's four children by Kitty, I know just a few things that I wish to share. William Jay got his names from his grandfathers: William Martin & Julius Jay Hawkins. Josephine Pearl got her first name from the feminine form of Joseph -- John Martin's only brother. I do not know where the name Pearl came from. Jessie Bell got her middle name from her maternal aunt : Julia Isabell "Bell" (Hawkins) Tavener. It was also her maternal grandmother's name -- Sarah Bell (Davis) Hawkins. I do not know where the name Jessie came from. I wonder if since her older sister was called Jossie as a child that perhaps Jessie was just chosen to rhyme. I am sure that George Garfield got his middle name from President James Garfield who died just a little over 3 months before George Garfield was born. I am guessing that the name George may have been after our first President George Washington as I am not aware of any Martins before him with the name George. Again, it is just a guess...
