A ***. Code Talkers

AMERICAN HEROES
One of the best kept American military secrets, Code Talkers were United States Native-American soldiers during World Wars I and II, Korea, and Vietnam who used their Native-American languages to transmit coded tactical messages. Those deployed as Code Talkers were of thirty-three Indian nations: Assiniboine, Cherokee, Cheyenne and Arapaho, Cheyenne River Sioux, Chippewa, Choctaw, Comanche, Cree, Creek, Crow, Crow Creek Sioux, Dakota Sioux, Ho-Chunk (Wisconsin), Hopi, Kiowa, Laguna Pueblo, Lakota, Lower Brule Sioux, Menominee, Meskwaki, Muscogee, Muscogee-Seminole, Nakota, Navajo, Oglala Sioux, Oneida (Wisconsin), Osage, Pawnee, Pima-Papago, Ponca (Oklahoma), Pueblo of Acoma, Rosebud Sioux, Sac and Fox (Iowa), St Regis Mohawk, Santee Sioux, Seminole (Oklahoma), Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate, Standing Rock Sioux, Tonto Apache, Tlingit and Haida, White Mountain Apache, Winnebago, and Yankton Sioux.
Code Talkers received no recognition until the operation's declassification in 1968. Not even the soldiers' family members knew of their loved ones' involvement until after declassification.
The actual term "code talker" wasn't coined until World War II.
The code was never broken.
"My language was my weapon." ~ David E Patterson (Navajo), 4th Div, US Marine Corps, World War II (still living as of May 2016).
