USAir Flight 427

US Air Flight 427 en route from Chicago O'Hare International Airport, approaching Pittsburgh International Airport, with a final destination of West Palm Beach Florida crashed into the ground killing all 132 souls on board. I witnessed this crash...I had just pulled into the Green Garden Shopping Center with my then mother-in-law. I parked, got out, & as I shut the car door, I heard a plane overhead. But this was no ordinary plane. The sound it was making was not normal. I had never heard a plane make this sound before, which compelled me to watch it. The pilot flew the plane around the outskirts of the shopping center. The plane flipped sideways, spiraling out of control toward the earth before disappearing behind the tree line nearby. An explosion, followed by a massive fireball where the plane disappeared. I spoke to the FAA on Sept 8,1994 and recounted what I saw. Several of my friends/business associates were police & firefighters, who assisted in the recovery efforts. But there would be no recovery. This tragedy still haunts many people. Including me. Rest In Peace USAir Flight 427.
