1. Mary Plott (c. 1764 to c. 1811-1814)

1. Mary Plott (c. 1764 to c. 1811-1814; age approximately 50 years old) married John Campbell (c. 1755 to c. 1804-1809; age approximately 53 years old) “Both dead leaving George, Daniel, John, Andrew, Polly aka Mary married to James Wilson, Henry Campbell - died before father - out of state.” 1790 Census Lincoln, NCMales - Under 16 = 3 = George, Daniel, John, Jr.Males - 16 and over = 1 = John, Sr.Females = 1 = Mary Plott-CampbellNo slaves1800 Census Lincoln, NCMales - Under 10 = 2 Andrew, John, Jr.Males - 10 thru 15 = 2 Daniel, GeorgeMales - 45 and over = John, Sr. (1800 - 45 = 1755 or older)Females - 10 thru 15 = Mary aka PollyFemales - 26 thru 44 = Mary Plott-CampbellNo slaves1810 Census Lincoln, NCMales - Under 10 = Henry CampbellMales - 16 thru 25 = John, AndrewFemales - 26 thru 44 = Mary Plott-CampbellNo slaves(John, Sr. was not listed; ergo, deceased 1800 to 1810)(Don’t know where daughter Mary aka Polly is located.)1820 Census Lincoln, NCNo recording Mary or John Campbell were made; both are presumed deceased. The following names help with research and connection to this family include; however, are not limited to: Campbell, Plott, Wilson, and Lutes/Lutz.It is presumed that the comment on the List of Children “- died before father” means, Mary died before George Plott, who died between March 27, 1815 and July Session 1815. Mary was listed as the head of household on the 1810 census; ergo, she died between 1811-1814. On the List of Children the statement, “both dead leaving”, means that John Campbell was deceased when the List of Children was written when Margaret Plott died, in 1830. As John Campbell was not listed on the 1810 census, it is presumed that he was deceased prior to Mary; ergo, that is why she was listed as the head of household on the 1810 census. Their son Henry declared on the 1840 census that he was born c. 1803; ergo, John died between 1804-1809.Two documents were recorded for John Campbell being deceased, in the North Carolina, Estate Files 1663 - 1979, Lincoln County, Campbell, John.1. “State of North Carolina, Lincoln County Know all Men by these Presents, That John Campbell (Jr. and brother of Henry Campbell) & James Wilson (Son-in-law of John Campbell Sr.) are held and firmly bound unto . . . Sealed with our seals, and dated this 18th day of January Anno Domini 1819. Whereas the above bounden John Campbell (Jr. and older brother of Henry Campbell) hath been this day, by the worshipful court of said county, appointed Guardian to Henry Campbell orphan of john Campbell (Sr. and father of both John Campbell Jr., Henry Campbell and father-in-law of James Wilson) deceased…” The document was signed John Campbell (Seal) James Wilson (Seal) This document proves that in 1819 both parents to Henry Campbell were deceased and he was an orphan. This document supports the List of Children that Mary Plott-Campbell was deceased between 1810 to 1819 or before her father, George Plott or before 1815; and, the mention James Wilson. (Image 1203 - 1204, John Campbell 1819)2. “State of North Carolina, Lincoln County Know all Men by these Presents, That John Campbell (Jr. and brother of Henry Campbell) & George Lutz (Either a future father-in-law or brother-in-law of Henry Campbell) are held and firmly bound unto . . . Sealed with our seals, and dated this 25th day of January Anno Domini 1822. This document supports the List of Children that Mary Plott-Campbell was deceased between 1810 to 1819 or before her father, George Plott or before 1815. (Image 1205 - 1206, John Campbell 1819) This documents also supports the Lutes/Lutz connection, as Henry Campbell would eventually marry Leah Lutes/Lutz.On the Lincoln County, North Carolina, Old Deed Records Book 19, Page 143, a signature for a “John Campbell” witnessed a deed, which George Plott, grantee, and Adam Farbough, grantor. “This Indenture made the 19th of May in the Year of our Lord 1797…” More than likely, the John Campbell signing witness to the transaction was Mary Plott’s husband, John Campbell, (Sr.); however, no proof. The signature would not be John Campbell, Jr.’s signature, because he would have only been approximately ten years old. Mary and John’s children were:a. George Campbellb. Daniel Campbellc. John Campbelld. Andrew Campbelle. Polly aka Mary Campbell married James Wilson on July 12, 1813. I think that Polly was a nickname for the daughter, so they could tell mother Mary Plott-Campbell from daughter Mary Campbell. I believe the reference to ‘out of state’ is for Mary Campbell-Wilson and her husband James Wilson. They are reported by family members to have moved to Indiana, in 1834. f. Henry Campbell
