The person which family history says was the holder of the note from the Continental Congress for money and supplies provided during the winter of 1777.
This Jacob was a bachelor, although some sources show him as married with children. An early family letter states he was not married and lived with his brother William, until William's death in 1784, then with his brother Samuel, until Jacob's death about 1812-13.
No burial location has been found. Some sources state he was buried at Christ Church, Bridgeport, where brother Samuel and several other DeHavens are buried.
NOTE: There is another Jacob DeHaven in Montgomery County and later in Philadelphia County who was married with children. This other Jacob was born about 1737 and died 1820, per Philadelphia death records [MyFamily.com]. He was married to Marcy VanPelt. Both are buried in Philadelphia County.
