She was born on December 16, 1933 in Gibson County, IN, the daughter of Hoyt I. and Leoma (Higginbotham) Thompson.
Barbara was a school teacher for District 348 for over thirty five years. Teaching and her students was Barbara's life. She went above and beyond to help her students. She will always be remembered for her generosity and kindness she showed to her students young and old. Barbara was an avid reader and loved to travel. While Barbara was growing up, she attended Maumee General Baptist Church in Johnson, IN.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan L. Adams of Mount Carmel, IL; one grandson, Mark T. Adams of Mount Carmel, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Hayward W. Thompson; her mother and father in law, Virgil and Cleates Adams.
A graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery with Pastor Adam Cruse officiating.
