"The death of Fred Joseph Pomeroy occurred at 7 o'clock Thursday morning, October 18th, at his home at Bowerstown following an illness of several years' duration. Mr. Pomeroy was born November 7, 1867, at Southhamption, Mass., the son of King and Hannah (Bolt) Pomeroy. He has lived at Bowerstown for the past forty years. Although he retired several years ago he was employed for twenty-five years in the forestry program at Iroquois Farm. In 1912 he was united in marriage with Miss Ethel Wick of Cooperstown and she survives, together with two daughters, Mrs. Burton Higgins of Fly Creek, and Miss Ruth Pomeroy of Cooperstown, one grandson, Raymond Higgins, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Ingalls Funeral home in Cooperstown with burial at Fly Creek." ["The Freeman's Journal" (Cooperstown, NY), Oct. 24, 1945, Page 2]
