Mrs. Floy S. Akers age 85, of Carrollton, was called home Tuesday, October 23, 2012. She was born November 13, 1926 in Cleburne County, Alabama, daughter of the late Melvin and Levada Skinner Smith. She and her husband the late Kenneth Rayford Akers owned and operated Akers Upholstery until their retirement. Mrs. Akers was of the Primitive Baptist faith and attended Whooping Creek Primitive Baptist Church as well as Holly Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Wilson and brothers John D. Smith and Paul E. Smith. Survivors include her son Wayne Akers of Carrollton daughter Anita Akers of Villa Rica and daughter and son in law Hilda and Larry Johnson of Carrollton, sisters Chloe Harvell of Buchanan, Jo Thompson of Carrollton, Yvonne Cash of Bremen, Joyce Holloman and Ruth Turner both of Temple, grandchildren Hayley Johnson and Kara Johnson and special friends who were considered family Howard and the late Brenda Thompson and their children Dustin Thompson and Shannon Webb. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 26, 2012 at 1:00PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Elder Neal Pritchett and Min. Ron Boswell officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 25th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
