Lewis J. Campfield of Narrowsburg succumbed to an attack of bronchitis and pneumonia in the 72nd year of his age, on December 30. Surviving are nine children, namely: Mrs. P.D. Smith of Narrowsburg; Charles of Honesdale; Chauncey, George and Joseph of Galeton, Pa.; Mrs. Frank Niles of Elmhurst, Pa.; and Sylvester of Stanton, Nebraska. The funeral was held at the Milanville church Monday, Rev. A. Jones pastor of the Damascus charge, officiating. The funeral was in charge of Undertaker Rasmussen and interment was made in the Dexter cemetery at Milanville.

Mr. Campfield joined Tusten Lodge, No. 467, I.O.O.F. on July 21, 1882 by initiation withdrawing July 16, 1891, to join Galeton Lodge of Galeton, Pa. Tusten Lodge was in charge of the funeral and attended in a body. The I.O.O.F. funeral service was ably rendered by Chas. W. Miller, acting as N.G. and George Heller as chaplain.

Samuel S. Campfield brother of Lewis also settled in Lincoln, Stanton County, NE. Some of the Campfield brothers at that time had changed their last name to; "Canfield."
Samuel was the Sheriff of Stanton County in 1873, and then 1875-1885.
