Kimberly Ann Black, 53, of Perry, died at 3:41 pm on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am o Saturday, August 11, at St John's Lutheran Church in Hannibal. Pastor Michael Stoerger officiated. Burial followed at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Mrs Black was born on January 5, 1959, in Hannibal the daughter of Joe and Beverly Yarbrough Johnson and they survive her. She married Preston "Devin" Black on July 31, 1998, in New London, and he survives her.
She is also survived by her sons, Chad A (Ashleigh) Daly of Hannibal and Bradey Y Whitlock of Perry; her brothers, Steven W (Georgia M) Johnson of Hannibal and Bryan D (Amy D) Johnson of Quincy and Kerry L (Jamie M) Reeves of Hannibal; her grandson, Alexander L Daly; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents; Fontaine and Bessie V Yarbrough, and Arvil O and Ruby M Johnson.
She was a member of the St John's Lutheran church, in Hannibal in her early years and was currently attending the Living Water Ministries Church in Perry. She has lived in this area for most of her life. She had many trades in her lifetime, all focused on helping others. In her early years she was a dental assistant, and later worked for the Public Administrator's Office in Marion County, MO. She graduated from Hannibal LaGrange University in 1995 as a Registered Nurse. She worked for several years at the Arthur Center in Mexico, MO. She spent many years taking care of the elderly.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and especially adored her grandson, Alexander. She was very involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews and was very involved int he rescue of animals.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kimberly Ann Black Memorial Fund for her grandson, Alexander, in care of the Grand View Funeral Home.
