Carroll E. Koontz, of Gettysburg, departed this life November 29.

He was ths on of the late Elwood and Grace Irene Overholtzer Koontz.

Mr. Koontz retired from Caterpillar of York after 31 years of service. He was a member and currently the club manager of the Littlestown Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2226 and was also a member of the Gettysburg Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1562, the New Oxford Social and Athletic Club, the Adams County Fish and Game Association of Orrtanna, and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He was a life member of the Taneytown American Legion Post 120, the Fairfield Blue Ridge Sportsman's Association, and the Fairfield Amvets Post 172 and was a social member of the Harney VFW Post 6918 and the Gettysburg VFW Post 15. Mr. Koontz served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He attended Taneytown High School.

He was the husband of Joanne E. Newcomer Koontz for 44 years and surviving, in addition to her, are two sons, Christopher K. Koontz and Jonathan D. Koontz, both of Gettysburg; one granddaughter; two brothers, Larry Koontz of Hope Mills, NC and Donald Koontz of Taneytown, MD; and three sisters, Barbara Six of Harney, MD, Sylvia Gross of Taneytown, MD and Judy Baer of Palm Coast, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews.
