Frances W. Sholes
Hastings
Frances W. (Auyer) Sholes, 102, of Hastings and formerly of the Marshall and Tekonsha areas, died Friday, Aug. 18, 1995, in Tendercare of Hastings.
She was born Feb. 15, 1893, in Lysander, N.Y., to Frank and Fanny (Fields) Auyer. She moved to Marshall as a youth and lived in the area most of her life before moving to Hastings in 1985.
She married John D. Sholes on April 16, 1913, in Marshall. He died in February 1981.
Mrs. Sholes was employed for many years as a cook at the Calhoun County Jail. During World War II, she worked in the airplane plant in Willow Run.
Surviving are a son, Harlan Sholes of Santa Ana, Calif.; daughters, Hilda Yochim of Hastings and Arda Noakes of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a brother and six sisters.
Community involvement, hobbies: Member of Free Methodist Church.
Visitation: After 6 p.m. Monday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, Marshall, where the family will recieve friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial: Lyon Lake Cemetery
Memorials: Charity of one's choice.
