William worked with his father and sons on the Western Maryland Railroad, at the summer resort of Pen Mar Park. He was Park Policeman and worked in Park Maintance as well. In the winter months he owned and operated a Saw Mill, at Blue Mountain, just below Glenn Afton Springs, Washington County, Maryland. His home was located on the present day Edgemont Road, near Blue Mountain, Washington County, MD. His lived beside his sister Amanda Ellen Hahn Carbaugh.
