Death of Calder A. Seiders
Calder A. Seiders of Wiconisco, died at his home Thursday evening, Mar. 7, after an illness of one week from typhoid pneumonia, aged 33 years, 8 months, and 4 days [tombstone reads 33 years, 7 months, 13 days]. Deceased was the son of Joseph and Sarah Seiders, and was born at Jacksonville. When quite young his parents moved to Williamstown and for 26 years he lived with them at that place, after which he was employed for about 3 years on the Sheafer farm under the present tenant Mr. Sowers. Since last November he was employed as engineer and fireman at Sheafer's knitting mill, Wiconisco. On Nov. 1, 1900, he married Mary C. Hummel, who with his parents and five sisters and four brothers survive. Deceased was highly respected by all who knew him and his death is sadly lamented by his numerous friends. The funeral was held Sunday morning, short services being conducted at the residence by Rev. Thos. W. Rowbottom of the Wiconisco M. B. church, after which the body was taken to Enders, where further services were conducted by Rev. Rowbottom in the United Brethren church. Interment took place in the cemetery connected with the church. The floral tributes consisted of a handsome wax wreath by employees of Sheafer's knitting mill and a bouquet of lillies by the family and a bunch of carnations by Mr. Matter and wife of Harrisburg. The pallbearers were Abner Bohner, Charles Foster, J. C. Kniley, Elmer Foster, Harry Hunter, Charles Curtis.
