Lynn C. Mahan Buried
With Military Honors
At Hopkins Cemetery

Lynn C. Mahan was buried with military honors Sunday at the Hopkins cemetery. The Glenn Ulmer post of the American Legion of Hopkins had charge of the burial rites following the services conducted at 2:30 o'clock in the Hopkins Methodist church by the Rev. J. Vernon Wheeler, pastor.

Mr. Mahan, a native of Hopkins, died July 12 in a crash of a KLM Constellation outside the airport at Bombay, India, after he had conducted a group of well-known journalists to Indonesia. Mr. Mahan was employed at the time by the Dutch government as advisor in regard to American opinion on the Indonesian situation. He was a major in the air transport command during the war.

During services at the church, music was furnished by John Hood of Maryville, vocal soloist. The pallbearers were Glen Stewart, John Houston, Chester Krause of Maryville, Landon Wallace, Howard Beauchamp of Maryville, Don Turner, Mark Davis, Joe H. Wright, Miles McCorkle of Chicago and A.F. Mutti.

Claude Abbey was commander and Verne Melvin was chaplain for the Legion post in the services at the cemetery. Dennis Jeffers was commander of the firing squad that consisted of Pete Thompson, Frank Houston, Landon Wallace, Don Turner, Mark Davis, Joe H. Wright and A.F. Mutti, of Hopkins; Chester Krause and Howard Beauchamp of Maryville, Miles McCorkle of Chicago.

Robert Potts and John Fugate were color bearers and Robert Mutti and James Richey were the color guards.

Mr. Mahan was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mahan and a brother of Mrs. Myrle Fike of Hopkins and Wray Mahan of Maryville.
