He was the son of John H and Elizabeth A Maurer, a 1942 graduate of Jackson High School and a US Army World War II veteran. He had been a salesman for Canton Provision Co -Pioneer Foods and retired from Stark Equipment in Massillon. A member of various Christian churches in Stark County and Florida, he was a member of the Barbershop Chorus S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A, the Massillon Lions Club and a member of William McKinley Lodge #60 F & AM. Preceded in death by a son Terry Scott Maurer in 1994. Survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother and three sisters and their spouses.
