Mr. Roy Gerald "Papa Roy" McMullen, 76, of Crandall, departed this life Wednesday morning, Nov. 7, 2012, at his home.

Roy was born April 9, 1936, in Donalsonville, a son of the late Roy "Buddy" and Myrtice Ometa Cannon McMullen. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Phillips, and a sister and brothers-in-law, Sarah and Alfred Helms, and L.W. Frazier.

Roy was a graduate of Donalsonville High School and was retired from B&M Aluminum where he worked for more than 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Phillips of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, James and Rhonda Phillips; grandson, Tyler Phillips and his wife, Brittney; great-granddaughter, Bryleigh Lynne Phillips; mother-in-law, Mildred "Nanny" Houston; sisters and brothers-in-law and brothers and sisters-in-law, Virginia and Charles Frith, Hilda and Wayne Phillips, Jimmy and Joanne McMullen, Tommy and Beverly McMullen, Linda and Reed Gee, Diane and Bob Tester, and Johnny and Sherry McMullen; many nieces and nephews; and his special cat, Miss Priss.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Murray Memorial Gardens with Ted Tankersley and the Rev. Scotty Baker officiating.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Phillips, Tim Mathis, Marlon Cole, Bill Mathis, Jose Hinojose and Jerry Ledford. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Mathis, Ted Tankersley and Joey Lloyd.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday after noon.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the Murray County Humane Society at P.O. Box 796, Chatsworth, GA 30705.

Roy graduated from Jakin High School in Early County Ga. Class of 1955. Jakin High Closed about 1962 and many of the students transferred to Donalsonville (even though it was in Seminole County).
