Mrs. Martha Jane Nelson Berg (1887 -1965), 77, of 1501 South Palm Avenue, died unexpectedly at 1 p.m. Thursday following a heart attack. Mrs. Berg was a native of Claiborne County, Tenn., and had been a resident of Palatka for 25 years, coming from Detroit, Mich. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Sunnihites.
Survivors include her husband, Albert H. Berg, Palatka; a daughter, Mrs. Flossie Payette, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, John B. Nelson, Detroit, Mich., and Hershel Nelson, Palatka; a sister, Mrs. Rosie Humphrey, Los Angeles; two brothers, Rudolph Rucker and Andrew Rucker, both of Andersonville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Dolphus R. Wilkes, assisted by Rev. Gail Smith, officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill East Cemetery with Masters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Palatka Daily News, Thursday, 3 Jun 1965.
