Ora Lee Sherrod-Abernathy, 75, passed away on April 3, 2010.

She was born on September 11, 1934 in Nash County.

Ora was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Cecil Abernathy; and her parents, Sammie Sherrod and Sadie Mae Worrell-Sherrod.

She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy A. Mitchell (James) of Selma; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Joe Sherrod of Wilmington, Tommy Sherrod of Columbia, SC, and Wayne Sherrod of Spring Hope; and five sisters: Eunice Bryant of Hampton, VA., Margie Dorsey of Spring Hope, Bertie Mae Bryant Walker of Elm City, Edith Clemmons of Enfield, and Barbara Brantley of Wendell.

The funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with the Rev. Reuben Batchelor and Rev. Gerald Parker officiating. The burial services will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
