While hunting at Lake Eaton in the Long Lake area, there was an accident which resulted in the drowning deaths Edward, his cousins William and Edward Clark (who were brothers)and a friend Carl Emery.
From his obituary Auburn Citizen-Advertiser November 18, 1949:
"He was a farmer by occupation. Mr. Clark was a member of Auburn Lodge of Elks, Auburn Aerie of Eagles, the Cayuga County Sportsmen's Association and the Aurelius Fire Department."
