Wilmer "Blackie" E. Allen, 73, of Camp Point, retired Burlington Northern Railroad foreman, died at 12:23 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 5, 1993) in his home.

Born Oct. 23, 1919, near Coatsburg, Mr. Allen was a son of Charles and Emma Moentman Allen. He married Mary Hull April 18, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Mr. Allen had been employed by Burlington Northern for 33 years, retiring in 1976 as a foreman. He attended Hazelwood and Lafayette schools, was an army veteran of World War II and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors also include five daughters, Mrs. Warren (Carol J.) Marlow, Mrs. Brent (Beverly) Likes and Mrs. Robert (Debbie) Rhea, all of Camp Point, Mrs. Robert (Marlene) Brady of Decatur, and Mrs. Jon (Kim) Lear of Paloma; a nephew they raised, Ronnie Hull of Paloma; a twin brother, Wilbur Allen of Green Valley; three sisters, Virginia Klassing of the North Adams Home at Mendon, Isabelle Hillerts of Quincy and Helen Edwards of Carthage; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Otis Allen.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point by the Rev. Randall Robinson. Burial will be in Graymount Cemetery at Coatsburg.

Visitation will be held 6-8 tonight and until time of services Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the charity of the donor's choice.
