W.H. Davis Is Taken By Death

Young Man Dies In Hospital - Funeral Plans Not Completed

Wade Hampton Davis, 30, died at General Hospital at 5:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
Coroner W.H. McCoy said he was informed Mr. Davis suffered a leg injury in an accident Tuesday, but that this had nothing to do with the death. He said he was continuing his investigation but that it was unlikely an inquest would be held.
Mr. Davis was born and reared in Greenville and had spent his entire life here. He is a son of Mrs. Rosa Powell Davis and the late W.H. Davis. He was employed as a butcher by the Greenville Meat market.
He was a member of the St. Paul Methodist church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Pittman Davis; two sons, Charles and Dallas Davis; his mother, Mrs. Rosa Davis, and six brothers and sisters, Mrs. Sadie Stillard (Stiller), Miss Frannie Mae Davis, Mrs. Maude Ivester, Homer, Belton and Amos Davis.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed and will be announced later from the offices of Thomas McAfee funeral home.

Funeral services for Wade Hampton Davis, 30, familiarly known as "W.H." will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock from the chapel of the Thomas McAfee funeral home. The Rev. A.H. Bauknight, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. J.T. Frazier and the Rev. J.F. Moseley, and interment will be made in Springwood cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Davis, M.D. Pittman, T.L. Causby, P.V. Stiller, E.E. Ivester and A.E. Davis.
The personnel of the Greenville Meat market will serve as the escort of honor.
Mr. Davis' death occurred at a local hospital Saturday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock. He was ill only a short time before his death.
He was born and reared in Greenville and had spent his entire life here. He was the son of Mrs. Rosa Powell Davis and the late W.H.Davis. He was employed by the Greenville Meat market as butcher.
He was a member of the St. Paul Methodist church.
