Joyce F. Magnusson, 97, of Prairie du Sac, formerly of Shell Lake, died Friday, October 27, 2023, at Agrace Hospice in Madison. She was born December 19, 1925, in Shell Lake, WI, to John and Ann (Hillman) Christiansen. Joyce graduated from Shell Lake High School, then attended Cosmetology School in Minneapolis, MN. She was married at Shell Lake Methodist Church on November 28, 1945, to Arthur "Cleigh" Magnusson and they raised their family. From 1963 to 1979, she operated a beauty salon in Verona, WI. They retired, sold the house and moved to Prairie du Sac for the summers and wintered in Arizona.

Joyce was an avid reader and enjoyed many different crafts. She and Cleigh loved to golf, bowl and play cards together, and on her own she liked to swim and take long walks. She was active in her church, attending weekly wherever she lived and donating many knitted and crocheted items. Above all, it was family and family gatherings that brought the most joy to her life.

She is survived by 3 children: Scott (Linda) Magnusson of Albany, WI, Toni King of Verona and Viki (Don Williams) Michaels of Madison; five grandchildren: Stacey (Dan) Zier of Verona, Jodie Bircher of Fort Atkinson, Brian (Heather Tollefson) Magnusson of Green Bay, Shane Andree of Oregon, WI, Dominique Williams of Milwaukee; 10 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Natalie, Carlee, Brooke, Frankie, Chase, Brook, Bryce, Cody and Dalton; 1 great-great-grandson; two sisters-in-law: Fern Magnusson and Faye Lois Hoff; 1 brother-in-law, Lynn Magnusson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 5, 1993; an infant daughter (1946); two grandsons Frank Andree and Tyken King; six brothers and their spouses and her beloved cat, Patches.
