Mrs. Catherine Herr, 79, a resident of the Anna M. Reiss home for the past 16 months, died today at St. Nicholas hospital after a lingering illness. Born May 31, 1870, in Steinthal (Calumet County) sic) the deceased was the daughter of the late Christian and Adelhaide Casper. She was married to Andrew Herr on Nov. 9, 1897. Immediately following their marriage, the couple moved to Manitowoc county and settled on a farm at Spring Valley. Mrs. Herr entered the Anna M. Reiss home in November 1947. She was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church at Spring Valley and was affiliated with the Christian Mothers' society of the parish.
Survivors are three sons, Andrew and Alois, Milwaukee, and Christ of Newton; three daughters, Mrs. Lillian Arndt of Chicago and Mrs. Minnie Knier and Miss Adela Herr of Milwaukee; four grandchildren; two brothers, John and Joseph of Wisconsin Rapids and a sister, Mrs. Mina Ruplinger of Milwaukee. Her husband died June 6, 1929. Two infant children also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Ewald-Nennig Funeral Home, St. Wendel and at St. Fidelis Church, Spring Valley. The Rev. Robert Klein, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the parish cemetery.
