ROSALIA PHILIPPS

TOWN OF MEEME PIONEER DIES, BURIED TODAY
Funeral services were held at St. Fidilis (sic) Catholic church at Meeme today for Mrs. Andrew Phillips (sic), pioneer resident of Manitowoc county, whose death
occurred at her home there after an illness of more than a year. A solemn requiem mass was said by the Rev. Mathias Hauch of Greenleaf, a nephew of the decedent, who was assisted by the Rev. E. Schmidt, pastor, and the Rev. Theo. Kersten, of this city, former pastor at St. Fidilis. Burial was at the Meeme cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips, nee Rosella (sic) Selenske, was 65 years of age, a daughter of the late Peter and Ann Selenske and was born in Meeme, October 20, 1860, and married there to Mr. Phillips on January 30, 1883. Mr. Phillips preceding her in death 25 years ago.

Nine children of whom five survive, were born to the couple and Mrs. Phillips had devoted her life to the little family and even in her last months when her sufferings were all but unbearable, looked to the comfort and welfare of the family. Mrs. Phillips was a woman whose helpfulness has endeared her to a host of friends who deplore her death. She was a member of St. Fidilis church and of the Christian Mother society.

Children surviving Mrs. Phillips are Mrs. Jerome Leist, Manitowoc; Nicholas, Andrew, Mary and Risanna (sic), all at home. One grandchild, Rosella Leist, also survives.
Two brothers, Nicholas Selenske of Milwaukee and Matthew Selenske of Antigo survive.
