ANTONIA STEIN

Died, on Monday, Feb. 10, Antonia Anna, the youngest child and only daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Stein aged 6 years 8 mo. 12 days. Although not expected, her
death was a severe blow, not only to the family circle but to the community who
felt that “To know her was to love her.” The little girl had enjoyed apparently
good health until November last when she contracted scarlet fever which although
seemingly slight resulted in serious organic complications, accompanied by
frequent and severe hemorrhages.
She recovered sufficiently to participate in the home holiday festivities, but
soon after suffered a relapse when it became only too clear that the “youngest
and dearest” had but budded on earth, to bloom in heaven. Antonia was a child of
an affectionate and winning nature, and the grief of her little world of
acquaintances and schoolmates, demonstrated her endearment among them.
Beautiful floral offerings presented by the pupils of both departments, and teachers,
decorated the little casket, carrying with them the last and tributes of sympathy and
love. The funeral took place on Thursday from St. Fidelis church, Rev. J. W. Phelan
officiating. Both schools and also a large concourse of loving relatives and friends
followed the remains to their final resting place beside her little sister that had
gone before her.
Besides a loving father and mother, two brothers mourn her untimely death. They have
the sincere sympathy of the entire community in their hour of affliction.
"Shall I have naught that is fair?” saith He."
"Have naught but the bearded grain?
Though the breath of these flowers is sweet to me,
I will give them all back again."
“And the mother gave, in tears and pain,
The flowers she must did love.
She knew she should find them all again
In the fields of light above.”
