Funeral services for Miss Mary Garraux, member of one of Greenville's old and widely known families, will be held this afternoon at 5:30 o'clock at The Mackey Mortuary conducted by Dr. Charles Haddon Nabers, Dr. T.W. Sloan, and Dr. Wm. L. Ball, and the interment will be made on the family plot in Springwood Cemetery.
Serving as the pallbearers will be A.N. Stall, William Gauble, J.C. Sprouse, Fred Lott, H.O. Dommick and Bill Garraux.
The death of Miss Garraux, which occurred at the family home, 7 Garraux Street, at 8:30 o'clock yesterday morning, came as a distinct shock to her family and friends, as she was seemingly in her accustomed health, and was engaged in her usual household duties when stricken. A native of Berne, Switzerland, Miss Garraux had located in Greenville more than 50 years ago, and was known and loved by countless friends for her generosity and kindliness. She was in her 80th year.
Miss Garraux was a member of the First Presbyterian church.
Surviving are three sisters: Mrs. Bertha G. Bryson and Mrs. Fannie G. Bull of this city, and Mrs. Rose Marvel, of New Port, R.I., and one brother, Ernest Garraux, of Austell, Ga. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Pending the hour of the service, the body is at The Mackey Mortuary.
