Virginia Sandy Obituary (parts taken from)

Virginia Lee (Mehle) Sandy was born to Ben and Bertha Hill Mehle in Peoria, Illinois on September 7, 1926 and she passed away at Hillcrest Care Center & The Towers on November 12, 2007 in Wray, Yuma, Colorado. Buried on November 16, 2007 at Grandview Cemetery Wray. Colorado.
She grew up in Ames, Iowa moving there at the age of three. She attended business school in Des Moines, Iowa. One of her first jobs was at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio during WWII was as a secretary. While working there she met and fell in love with Warren Sandy and they were married December 6, 1945 in Ames, Iowa. To this union one daughter, Mary Lou was born.
Virginia was an original member of the Wray Art Guild and the Sage Hens. She was a member of the PTA, American Legion Auxiliary, volunteered to help with leathercraft project for 4-H club members and was very active in the Laird Methodist Church. She also helped with many blood drives with Wray Hospital Auxiliary. Virginia loved with her heart on her sleeve. Her famiy has been blessed to share her life. She was a beautiful painter and enjoyed it so much. She enjoyed watching her flowers grow while sitting on the deck with Warren.
Virginia preceded in death by her parents, Ben & Berthay Mehle, brothers, Wert Markley, Elmer Markley, Ben Mehle and Clifford Mehle and sisters Bertha Pinda and Bernice Mehle. Survived by husband of 61 years Warren, daughter Mary Lou and her husband Gary North and their family of Burlington. Survived by one brother Mark Markley of San Jose, CA, two sisters, Irene Lande of Ames and Phyllis & husband Dennis Holveck of Gilbert, Iowa and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on November 16 at Wray United Methodist Church.
