Immigrated from England to Canada in 7 September 1876 aboard the Circassian at age 7 with the rest of his family. They landed in Quebec made there on to Muskoka Lakes region to settle on land near Bracebridge on Brandy Lake. By 1881 the family had made there way to Toronto where they were successful in tool manufacturing, etc. This became the family business that had doings in Toronto, New Jersey, New York, & more. Thomas Alfred Mountfords father was George Mountford of Birmingham England . He was a well-known machinist that operated a machine shop on Brass House Passage in Birmingham England.
