Mr. & Mrs. Philip Rahoi, Sr., 527 Smith Street, are another well-known Iron Mountain couple who recently observed their silver wedding anniversary.

Ursala & Phillip were some of Iron Mountain's pioneers in the early 1890s.
Their 1st stop was in Quinnesec, Dickinson, Michigan, which at that time was a fast growing city. The iron ore mines were working fulltime & many new homes were being built. Jobs were plentiful & houses were being built. Large heaters were the source of heat usually located in the center room. On a cold day there was always a scrambled to get the choice spot in which to get "toasty".
Their history included moving 11 times in one year to different houses owned by the iron ore mining companies. One home had too many holes, another a bad chimney and one was well made & had been used by mine captain. They eventually bought their own home on 307 Blaine Street. A large house which they had rebuilt into a comfortable home, it was still standing in 1979.
Ursula & Phillip were the parents of 12 children: Christina, Phillip, Urban, Ann, George & Katherine (twins), Jack, Mary, Alma, Louise, Walter & Valentine.
