Member of prominent San Francisco Magnin family. He was the son of Cyril Magnin, who was called "Mr. San Francisco", he worked with the father, brother and brother-in-law to develop Joseph Magnin, a women's high fashion store which became one of the largest specialty retailers in America. He and his late wife traveled to Milan and Paris usually once a year to find the latest in European fashion. In 1961, he was appointed to the San Francisco Parking Authority where he would advocate plentiful parking in the city for the next 21 years. The parking structure near the Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall is named in his honor. He served in the U.S. Navy.
