BOSCO came to us at 5 weeks old. He was a pedigree from a mother and father what was owned by a friend of my husband, Jackie Roy Ambers.

Bosco is a black & white Rat Terrier, who saved my life at the age of 2 months. When we first got Bosco, it was pretty cool in the early mornings. I would have to leave about 4:45 AM to pick Jackie up from work, so I would wrap him in a baby blanket and hold him on my lap. He got used to that and one day I found him sleeping in the bed on my pillow.

One Wednesday night I came home early from Church to find him propped up on the pillow watching television. I did not disturb him, went to the bathroom to start my bath water. As I relaxed in the warm water, I could hear his little bark. Well, if he wanted something else to eat, he could just wait until I finished my bath. The only lights in the house was the hallway and the bathroom. Bosco barked again, but I continued to ignore him. Finally, he came to the door, barked and ran toward the bedroom. I decided I should go see what was going on. I tiptoed to the window where he was standing and frantically wagging his tail. There were three men trying to break into my home. I was able to get the cordless phone, to into the hallway and called the police. The vandels were having a hard time getting the screen off the window or they would have gained access to my house. They ran when they heard the police sirens right down the street. In a search around the house, there was evidence they had tried to get in the kitchen window, the bathroom window before trying the bedroom windown. There is no telling what would have happened if they had broken in and found me in the bathtub. I picked Bosco up and hugged him.

We took walks together. I would take him to the park. He loved the slide and the merry go round. His favorite passion was birds. He would chase a bird down and was not afraid of anything. He jumped on a pit bull because he thought the other dog had on his favorite sweater.

My baby Bosco. I became ill and was unable to keep them anymore. After Hurricane Katrina, we allowed him to mate with Abigail Toombs from New Orleans and they had a litter of five. We kept two and Stella kept three. Their names were close even though we were in different states when the pups were named. Macario Bosco and Leah Elise Ambers; Layla, Lylah, & Michaelangelo Toombs.

Bosco loved chicken and did not like to have his food placed any kind of way. He liked stainless steel plates and bowls. We still have them, as well as some of his sweaters and his Air Jordans.
