Woodroe Lewis "Chick" McCoy was born in Portales, NM on January 5, 1907. His parents were Wesley Emzire and Minnie Sweatt McCoy. In 1928 he married Lillie Mae Stinson at Hatfield, Arkansas. They had three daughters, Wanda Jo McCoy Shields, Wilma McCoy Upp and Judy McCoy Hopper.
He served in the Navy from April 4, 1944 to November 11, 1945 as a second class motor machinist's mate. After his time in the service he purchased a garage in Smithville, OK and operated it for a number of years. Later he decided to farm and did so until he retired.
