William Stevenson Addie was born in Scotland in 1883, although there were different years for his birth, including 1885. He immigrated to Canada in 1910. In the 1911 census he was living at Clare, a town with many brick buildings. When the C.P.R. placed its train tracks from Souris, Manitoba two miles NE of Clare, buildings were moved and the town became Arcola, Saskatchewan. By the 1916 census, the family had a 7 month old daughter, Evelyne J. Addie.
In 1922, they were living in Colfax, Saskatchewan where their son, John was born.*1
