James Willis Banks, age 65, of Greeneville, passed away Friday morning at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Banks was retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center and was an avid golfer and dedicated fisherman.

He was a loving father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by a son: Adam Banks of Greeneville; three daughters and sons-in-law: Elaine Banks of Dunn, N.C., Robin and Antoine Montpeirous of Hampton, Va., and Carrie and Lee Hardy of Inman, S.C.; three grandchildren: Gracie Jean Maynard of Dunn, and Corey Mason and Holly Elizabeth Montpeirous of Hampton; two brothers: Bill Banks and Steve Banks of Greeneville; three sisters: Charlotte McCrary and Debbie Malone of Afton and Linda Perkins of Kingsport; many nieces and nephews; his long-term companion: Rose Webb of Greeneville; and special friends: Randall Webb and AJ and Sabrina Clemons of Greeneville.

Mr. Banks had a close and trusting relationship with his sister-in-law, Teresa Banks, and his niece, Brittany Banks.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Allen and Edith Banks; a sister: Shirley Banks; and three brothers: Allen Banks Jr., Wayne Banks and Freddie Banks.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Ricker officiating.

Interment will follow in River Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends preceding the funeral from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Lee Hardy, Richard Banks, Ricky Banks, Randall Webb, Brandon Banks and Roy Roberts.
