Mr. James Ghorley, 83, of Cartersville, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at a local nursing home. He was born in Floyd County on July 11, 1928 and was the son of the late John Ernest Ghorley and Martha Louise Kilgore Ghorley. Preceding him in death along with his parents are his wife, Mary Icie Smith; and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Ghorley attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Kingston. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, listening to gospel music and watching wrestling. His favorite past time was spoiling his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Shirley Evans, Jerry, Robert and Dewayne Ghorley; his siblings, Odell Waters and Ben Ghorley; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m, Friday, May 4, 2012 in Oak Hill Cemetery with Brother Charles Ghorley officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Willie, Rex and Blake Evans, Chris Ghorley, Cody Brock and Mark Brock.The family will receive friends from 9:30 10:30 a.m, Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.
