Gerald Gocken Sr.
The memorial service for Gerald H Gocken Sr., 67 of Fremont will be 10:30 a.m. Friday Rozanek and Son Colonial Chapel.
He died Saturday May 1, 1999, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Gocken was born Aug. 14, 1931, in Omaha. he was raised in Cedar Bluffs for 16 years. He was a Korean War veteran. He enlisted Aug. 7, 1952 in the U.S. Army and was discharged May 6, 1954. He was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Service Medal. He moved to Fremont after his discharge. He married Laureen Kucera Dec. 15, 1956 in Schuyler. He was a truck driver for 25 years with Roy Trucking and Fremont Express. He worked for the Fremont Department of Utilities as a custodian at Lon Wright Power Plant from 1983 until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Survivors include; three sons, Gerald H. Gocken Jr. of Fremont, George Peter (and wife, Sheri) Gocken of Atlantic Beach, Fla, and Michael F. Gocken of Stanton; a daughter Alberta M. Schlapfer of Fremont.; three sister-in-law, Julie Kucera of Schuyler, Barbara (Mrs. Dick) Hirschbrunner of Columbus, special friend Redd (Cindy) Trout of Fremont.
The Rev. John Hargreaves will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Rozanek and Son Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established to Fremont Area Medical Center Cancer Unit.
