FOUNDER OF STONE COMPANY IS DEAD
Michael A. Blatz, 86 Years Old, Was Native of Germany.
Michael Ambrose Blatz, 86 years old, founder of Blatz & Krebs Stone Company, died at 4:05 yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Madelin B. Gillessey, 1307 Cherokee Road.
Mr. Blatz was born in Baden, Germany and came to the United States when he was 15 years old. After landing at Philadelphia he came to Louisville, where in 1864 he started the stone concern.
He married Miss Lena Klein, North Vernon, Ind., in 1864, by whom he is survived. Besides his widow and daughter he is survived by a grandson, three granddaughters and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon at the residence. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery.
