Ronald was born and raised in Martins Ferry. His father had died in 1963 and older brother Cleveland Jr had already served in the US Army when Ronald decided to enlist in the Marines 21 April 1965, at a Pittsburg Recruiting Office in PA.
Upon arriving in Vietnam Ronald and was assigned to Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine
Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Ronald and several Marines died during an engagement with hostile forces in the vicinity of LZ Parrot and 8 kilometers north northeast of Con Thien (Hill 158), while participating in Operation Belt Tight/Hickory. Ronald died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head causing massive cranial injury from small arms fire.
Ronald was single and served his country for 2 years and 29 days and was KIA #12,700.
Tour of duty unknown.
Ronald was 20 years, 7 months and 3 days old.
Survived by his mother, Viola Pearl Starr of Box 25, 216 Narrow Road, Rayland, Ohio and brother, Cleveland Hendrich Starr Jr of Route #2, Box 74, Dillonville, Ohio and brother, David C Starr served in Vietnam with the US Army and sisters, Shirley and Viola.
Father was deceased, Cleveland Hendrich Starr Jr.
